Collaborative messaging B2B Microsoft Teams is gaining ground in companies. Fully integrated into the Office 365 suite, it can be accessed through a dedicated application or as a web app ( link ). Officially launched at the end of 2016, Teams was only pushed by Microsoft much later and it was only in 2018 and 2019 that the tool was pushed to replace many other in-house software.
Things have been difficult for the DSI who have received sometimes contradictory information about the future of applications maintained or not by Microsoft. For example, Skype Enterprise, which had taken over Lync, was then set aside for Teams, while then releasing a Skype for Business 2019 version. What is now certain is that Microsoft Teams will be an essential part of corporate communication and will bring together many services within a single interface.
As of July 2019, Microsoft claims 13 million active users per day worldwide for its collaborative solution, grouped in 500,000 organizations. The fact that the software is integrated into Office 365 subscriptions and replaces Skype are two factors that explain this rapid growth. 13 million, better than the former leader Slack.
#MicrosoftTeams has 13 million daily active users and counting! With availability in 53 languages across 181 markets, Teams is powering teamwork around the world. https://t.co/pLUHb6Zly8 pic.twitter.com/X680HqZGSv

Very complete, Teams replaces:
- Skype (for Business) Instant messaging and video conferencing (such as Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp)
- SharePoint : GED document server, document server
- OneDrive file sharing: file sharing
- OneNote note-taking: note-taking
- Yammer corporate social network: corporate social network
- Planner Project and task management
Other tabs integrated into the application allow you to link third-party tools such as Google G Suite, Salesforce, MailChimp… The advantage is therefore to have a single interface to access all these functions, instead of having one application per use or per service.
The Microsoft Teams tool is perfect for working on files alone or simultaneously with colleagues. Your files will be stored on a SharePoint site created with the members of the team in question. You will therefore use SharePoint resources through Teams in a transparent way. These files are accessible via the “Open in SharePoint” function to view them in a SharePoint interface. Each file cannot exceed 15GB in size.
Deployment of the Teams application
For directors IT the Policy packages of the Teams admin center will soon be available to deploy the Teams software on the computer park. However, the program is automatically installed if the user downloads Office 365 Business Premium or E3. And it launches itself into the user’s session on its own, even if you don’t want to use the tool.
