Windows 10: Enable Hibernation

Windows 10 changes the way access the standby options and to activate the computer’s deep sleep mode . It is still possible to hibernate Windows but this function is not enabled by default. This mode is interesting for laptops, for example to close the cover (the part display ) and automatically put the machine in a state of prolonged sleep, which will not drain the device’s battery.

Technically, extended monitoring is quite different from traditional monitoring. Hibernation will copy the information from the volatile RAM (RAM ) on the hard disk or SSD of the computer, to be able to turn everything off and therefore consume no energy. When you wake up, the information will be copied from the disk to the RAM and you will find your working environment as before the hibernation, with the documents open, the browser positioned on the sites previously visited, etc..

It can be used on the move, without losing the work in progress. However, be careful when changing the network connection, switching from the company to a train trip will cause the network links to be lost and could cause malfunctions on some applications that do not support offline mode well. See what tutorial to activate the hibernation by closing the laptop cover .
